We are all Called to Serve

Service opportunities at First Methodist Church for Worship, Outreach, Nurture and Youth, Adult and Children's Ministries.

  • Arrive at the service early and greet members and visitors.
  • Arrive early and stay after the service at the Welcome Center in Wesley Hall to answer questions and greet people before and after the 9 a.m. service.
  • Usher before and during service or special events for the 9 a.m. service in Wesley Hall, 11:15 a.m. service in the sanctuary and other special events.
  • Lead a time to hear prayer requests and praise reports at the 9 a.m. service in Wesley Hall.
  • Assist in serving Communion during worship services at 9 a.m. or 11:15 a.m. and during funerals, weddings and other special events.
  • Share your talents singing or playing instruments in the Praise Band at 9 a.m., Chancel Choir at the 11:15 a.m. service or special music (solos, etc.).
  • Volunteer to work with the sound or video systems during church services and special events such as weddings, funerals and programs.
  • Prepare the Sanctuary and Wesley Hall for worship, including Baptisms, Holy Communion, and other special events.
  • Coordinate with Altar Guild, sound team and church personnel to ensure all aspects of the wedding are planned. Contact Kaye Buckman at 252-946-9591 for more information.
  • Be in the library from 10-10:30 a.m. on Sunday morning to assist members in checking out and returning books. For more information, contact Delane Fuquay or the church office.
  • Record, file, research and catalog information, documents, pictures and anything relevant to our church history. Contact Patty Jackson at 252-944-3055 for more information.
  • Our church is involved in local, regional and international mission ministries focusing on homelessness, hunger, disabilities, mental health, domestic violence and many other needs. Contact George or Bonnie Isovitsch at 724-822-4749 for more information.
  • Service to our adult members
  • Meet & connect with others during a time of study and sharing. Join a Sunday School class. Meet at 10:00am Sunday mornings. More information on classes at the Wesley Hall Welcome Center and outside the Sanctuary.
  • Several opportunities to assist with Children's ministries as a leader or assistant.
  • Work with Junior/Senior youth programs - Sunday Evening and special programs.
  • Participate and receive more information on these programs.
